You Will Never Regret Taking the Photos

There is a version of motherhood that nobody really prepares you for.
The one where you are so busy living it that you barely have time to notice it.
The baby is growing.
The toddler suddenly looks like a big kid.
Your once-tiny newborn is sitting up.
Your kids are losing teeth, starting school, becoming independent, and somehow changing right in front of you.
And somewhere in the middle of all of it, you keep thinking:
I need to get some pictures taken.

But then life happens.
Someone is sick.
Someone has practice.
Your husband is working.
The baby isn’t sleeping.
You don’t feel like you look your best.
Maybe you gained some weight.
Maybe you haven’t had your hair done in six months.
Maybe your toddler is currently going through a phase where they refuse to wear pants.
And you think, We’ll do it later.
But here’s the thing.
Later keeps moving.
The little hands you’re holding today won’t always be this little.
The baby you’re rocking at 3 a.m. will eventually be the kid who doesn’t need you to carry them.
Your children won’t always fit on your lap.
And you won’t always remember exactly what their cheeks looked like, or how they reached for you, or the way your toddler tucked their head into your shoulder.
That’s why I believe family photography matters.
Not because your family needs another pretty picture for the wall.
But because you deserve to remember this.
